JOE AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM

Joe's return to the international stage was finally sealed by a staggering performance at
The London Palladium on Sunday Night.

Walking out to an electric 5-minute ovation, Joe, clearly nervous, was overwhelmed by the two thousand strong audience.

Every song saw Joe grow in strength and confidence peaking with a truly amazing Bassey/Jones medley that was delivered with a conviction not seen for some time. Belting out ballad after ballad, the audience were truly in the palm of this performers' hand and emotional renditions of 'If you Love me', 'As I Love You' and 'You'll Never Know' left the adoring crowd in floods of tears.

For the past 8 months the Palladium has been home to the £5 million production of 'Sinatra', so Joe's tribute to Frank's 'My Way' was particularly poignant. The closing words, 'Yes, it was My Way' sending a shudder through both the audience and Joe. It was as if Sinatra's presence itself was there in the building sending an approving nod that Joe had earned the right to sing the song.

Joe's tribute to Matt Monro culminated in Don Black's 'If I Never Sing Another Song’, which in recent years has become Joe's finale and tonight was no exception. As the band played the opening bars, Joe's audience readied themselves to approach the foot of the stage to congratulate him, on what had clearly been a high point in Joe's career.

There was no need for an encore. Joe had given a performance of a lifetime and as so many before him on the stage of The Palladium, he had earned his right in the hall of fame that graces the entrance to this world class venue, draped in entertainment history.
